By the time you read this we will have voted ...

Dark-money will remain, however (unfortunately)

Posted

.... But the stain of these dark-money flyers that invade our mailboxes will hang over us. Eight days before the Nov. 3 General Election I received in our mailbox 4 fliers about candidates for the United States Senate. Two of them were from something called American Forge Coalition. One was from StrengthisSecurityPAC.com. One was from Our Heritage Matters.

The one from Our Heritage Matters is worth pointing out because it respectfully asks for my vote for Mark Hackett for the United States Senate. It did not win my vote for Mr. Hackett, but it told me that he is for action to "reduce our debt, stop illegals, put South Carolina First!" It blew all the far-right dog whistles - voting "no" on anything that does not reduce the national debt, encouraging states to send illegals back where they came from, and stopping the aliens' invasion.

Nothing really wrong with that - part of it runs contrary to what the Trump administration is doing in sending people NOT to their countries of origin, but sending gay deportees to countries where homosexuality is illegal - and paying countries to take in the deportees we send them (national debt?).

OK, so he would "break with" the administration on some things, but still be a conservative.

Not enough, in sum, to swing my vote.

This flyer says it's not authorized by any candidate, but it clearly promotes one candidate.

The other 3 fliers deal with the Darline Graham - Dr. Annie Andrews race. One labels Andrews as a liberal and carries a U.S. Senator Tim Scott warning about voting for her. It repeats the absolutely stupid assertion about men playing in women's sports - the NCAA said recently that the number of transgender men playing on a women's team is -- wait for it -- Zero. They've all been driven into hiding by the relentless abuse of the radical-right lunatics.

These people are non-stop in their abuse of gay and transgender people, without realizing or caring that the U.S. Secretary of Treasury is a gay man. He was hired for his expertise, not for his gayness. StrengthisSecurity tried with this waste of postage to get me to change my vote away from Andrews, but it was not persuasive.

The other 2 fliers target Darline Garham. One criticizes the fact that she doesn't know enough about China and Taiwan to form an opinion. The other said she would have to take a wait and see approach to a National Ban on Abortion. One has an 803 number to "tell Senator Darline Graham: our national security is not a guessing game," whatever that means.

The other American Forge Coalition flier has an 864 number to "Tell Senator Darline Graham: we need pro-life champions who know what they stand for."

Apparently, what these people want Graham to "stand for" is complete control over women's reproduction in the United States -- so as The Great Replacement Theory will not be fulfilled.

Both are unpersuasive to me, and my vote.

The anti-Graham flier about China makes the bold, all-caps statement: "The Chinese Communist Party is a serious threat to our Freedoms and Way of Life." Why, then, did the President of the United States fete the President of Communist China in the safest-city-in-the-world, Washington, D.C.?

If they are such a threat, send him an e-mail.

(FYI: Two more came in during the weekend: "It's almost like they live on a different planet" from Women Speak Out PAC anti-Andrews and anti-Jermaine Johnson - it features aliens looking at Saturn - with the message "they want to get rid of protections for unborn babies and their moms at all costs." Also, another for Mark Hackett from Stand Your Ground, thanking the candidate for governor "for upholding our constitutional right to bear arms"; meanwhile, gun violence resulted in more than a dozen deaths and 90 injuies over Halloween weekend around the nation.)

Luckily, this catering-to-special-interests stuff will be out of our mailboxes until ... 2027.
