CLINTON – The Laurens County Cross Country Championship took place yesterday evening at Clinton High School, with the Red Devil teams putting on a strong showing in front of a hometown crowd. Seniors from Laurens, Thornwell, and Clinton were recognized prior to the races, including Cody Patterson and Austin McCall (Laurens), T.J. Shorter and Josef Holford (Thornwell), and Richard Santiago, William Wyatt, Marissa Brewer, and Adam Wofford (Clinton).
Girls Team Championship
Clinton’s girls captured the team title with a dominating score of 19, while Thornwell finished second with 43 points. The top five finishers, who earned All-County medals, were:
5th: Gemma Gearheart, Clinton – 28:13
4th: Emily Oliver, Clinton – 27:18
3rd: Natalia Morgan, Clinton – 26:35
2nd: Camryn Pingley, Thornwell – 26:16
1st & County Champion: Calvary Lyda, Clinton – 25:16
Boys Team Championship
The boys race was a tight battle, with Clinton narrowly defeating Laurens to claim the title, 31 to 34 points, while Thornwell finished third with 69 points. All-County medalists included:

4th: T.J. Shorter, Thornwell – 18:27
3rd: Cooper Stinson, Clinton – 18:24
2nd: Hunter Power, Laurens – 17:53
1st & County Champion: Cody Patterson, Laurens – 17:41
With both teams claiming county championships on their home course, Clinton’s Red Devils continue to demonstrate their dominance in Laurens County and will carry this momentum into the remainder of the season.
