Hello Everyone,

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on Friday, October 16th, the Player of the week is Clinton High School senior running back; defensive back and special teams’ player Angelo Cromer.

Angelo is a junior running back and defensive back for the Clinton High School Red Devils and led the Red Devils in a hard fought region contest against Mountain View Prep.  Red Devils defeated MVP by a score of 46 – 34 in Region II, AA play.

Cromer had a career high 250 yards rushing on 29 carries and one touchdown for the Red Devils.  Cromer also added an important 2-pt. conversion for the Red Devils as well.  Cromer plays both ways for the Red Devils and special teams for the Devils and never comes off the field.  On defense Cromer added 4.5 tackles and had several pass deflections from his defensive position as well.

Head Coach Corey Fountain stated, “Angelo has been working hard in our program since the 7th grade.  He never comes off the field and leavers everything he has on the field every game!  It’s great to see his hard work and dedication translating to the field on Friday nights.”

The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Cromer on October 29th at the sixth Touchdown Club meeting of the year.  The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens with Big Air of Laurens serving the meal and the food service line opening at 11:45 am.  Player of the Week awards will be presented in 2026 by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.

The October 29th meeting will feature legendary Coach Danny Ford of Clemson University who led the Tigers to their first-ever national championship in 1981 making him the youngest head coach in college football history to win a national title.  Ford coached at Clemson from 1978 – 1989 with a record of 96-29-4 and won five ACC titles in addition to the 1981 national championship.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.

Additionally, the Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County “Player of the Week’ awards will be presented for the October 16 and October 23 High School football games and we will have a recap from all of the coaches of the local High School teams and Presbyterian College.
