Clinton Red Devil Cross Country Teams Shine at Starlight Invitational

GREER, SC  - The Clinton High School Cross Country teams delivered impressive performances at the 2025 Starlight Invitational, held on Saturday, October 18, at Riverside High School in Greer, South Carolina. Competing against approximately 50 teams across 10 divisions, the Clinton girls secured 12th place, while the boys achieved a commendable 4th place in their respective divisions.

Girls Team Highlights

The girls' team showcased remarkable depth and determination. Calvary Lyda led the charge with a time of 23:47.26, followed by Natalia Morgan, who set a personal record (PR) of 25:25.14. Emily Oliver (26:02.42), Marissa Brewer (26:46.86), and Gemma Gearheart (26:57.60) rounded out the top five for Clinton. Kandire Clark also achieved a PR with a time of 28:27.

Boys Team Standouts

The boys' team exhibited exceptional performances, with Cooper Stinson leading the pack in 17:28.79, earning a 10th-place finish and a medal. Wilkes McWatters followed closely with a PR of 17:57.48, while Cade Lyda (18:48.52), Corey Riden (19:51.17), and Carter Gregory (19:59.96) also set personal bests. Additional PRs were achieved by Nick Nelson (20:49.20), Raymond Courtemanche (20:54.88), Samuel Marillo (20:55.54), Benjamin Hawkins (23:07.73), Ethan Sturdevant (24:23.44), and Charlie Long (27:25.78).

Looking Ahead

Both teams are set to compete in the Region Championship on Monday, October 27, at Mid-Carolina High School. With their recent performances, the Red Devils are poised to continue their strong season and aim for further success.
