The Clinton Presbyterian Community at 801 Musgrove Street, Clinton, celebrated its 50th Anniversary Thursday evening with a Caribbean steel band, a Lowcountry boil and many other delicious dishes, and heartfelt fellowship, both in a ceremony inside the community’s chapel and outdoors under the portico and a tent. The program emphasized that since 1975, the Clinton Presbyterian Communty has been a “steadfast harbor of care, kindness, and hope that is anchored in grace and guided by the light of faith, love, and service.” This “golden milestone,” the community said, is “honoring the legacy of compassion and connection that has shaped this community and brightened countless lives.” The chapel program honored past directors, some of whom’s families were present, and special words of appreciation were presented by State Senator Danny Verdin and Clinton Mayor Randy Randall. Caregivers and many others were recognized, with some receiving pins of service for more than 40 years with the community. The guiding Scripture for the event was Matthew 5:14-16, stating “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. ...” -- Vic MacDonald Photos
