LAST MINUTE: We are open today - Christmas Eve - from 9 am to Noon -- then 9 am to 4 pm on Dec. 29 & 30

From casual wear to dress for success, The Clinton Chronicle has women’s clothing (and a limited supply of men’s clothing) available for anyone to view and acquire as part of the newspaper’s first Holiday Relief Supply Drive.

The Chronicle and partner businesses have been colecting food, household essentials, school supplies, and toys and books since before Thanksgiving. These items also are available for anyone who wants to obtain them. A few large packages of bottled water also are available.

No identification, proof of income, or proof of citizenship is required at The Chronicle. These products are offered to anyone, without judgment, and the give-aways will continue after Christmas and into the New Year, according to Chris Patterson, publisher.

Collection sites are at:

Sadler Hughes Apothecary;

The Vestibule Coffee & Tea;

Clinton Tire;

Dollar General, 24676 Hwy 76E, Clinton;

Ingles;

Clinton Family Dollar;

Clinton Public Library;

Clinton Discount Pharmacy;

A2 Exterminators in Laurens; and

The Clinton Chronicle, 513 N. Broad St. (864-833-1900 for info).

Anyone who wants to donate items for this Holiday Relief Supply Drive is urged to take these items to any of these collection businesses. No donation is too small to help someone.

We received our first monetary donation on Friday. People started coming to look over the clothing and items available Thursday afternoon shortly after a Facebook notice was posted.

Donated women’s clothing - in sizes from small to 3X - comes from A Little Jewel, A MacDonald Shopping Experience.

This is an on-line sales business in Laurens, owned and operated by Pat and Vic and Jewel MacDonald. Customers of this on-line store bought pieces of clothing, and the business donated a piece of clothing for every piece that is sold. Larger pieces like coats merited two donations of clothing.

Also, a friend of the on-line business painted shells with Christmas scenes and donated these to the holiday drive. All proceeds from on-line sales of these ornaments went to buying toys and school supplies for The Chronicle’s Holiday Relief Supply Drive. Pat MacDonald and her elves brought these toys to The Chronicle on Dec. 18.

LAST MINUTE

The Chronicle is open TODAY, Christmas Eve, until Noon if anyone needs to pick up a toy, coloring book and crayons, pencils and pens and notebooks, make-up, or stuffed animal for a needy child or teen, for a last-minute Christmas present.

These toys and supplies will be available after Christmas, also, in case anyone wants to pick something up for a birthday or other special occasion.

The Chronicle is especially interested in maintaining the Clothing Closet because we realize that people might not have the warm clothing they need for winter. After the cold weather, we expect available clothing to transition into spring, depending on public interest.

We also want our clothing to be available to high school and middle school students who wear adult sizes and want something fashionable to wear. Just remember, these clothes are donated and most are gently worn, so “up-to-date” styles may not be available. This Clothing Closet will not accept or distribute anything that is dirty and/or smelly.

If you have new or gently-worn clothing that you want to donate to this effort, please bring it to The Clinton Chronicle, where it will be sorted and displayed by sizes. Some shoes in various sizes also are available. We also accept Men’s clothing, as well and blankets and socks. We would appreciate it if you would launder any clothing that you want to donate.

We also can provide a limited amount of assistance for burned-out families.

Please enter the newspaper through the front door at any time during business hours to access the portion of the building where the Holiday Relief Supply Drive donations are available for inspection. We reserve the right to limit the amount that one person can take away, to ensure that as many people as possible are assisted by this effort.

Take what you need -- but use what you take.

We have a limited number of paper bags with handles for people to use for their items. No one will know - or needs to know - what people are taking away from our office. Again, we offer this service without judgment or identification.

(NOTE: The Clinton Chronicle will be closed Christmas Day and the day after Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and the day after New Year’s. We will be back January 5, and our first newspaper of 2026 -- our 126th year serving the greater Clinton community -- will be published on Jan. 7.)
