MAGAs cancel-culturing a restaurant; laughing all the way to the bank

The CEO of Cracker Barrel is brilliant. We should put her in charge of the United States Treasury.

She gained $10 Million worth of free publicity for her company by not doing one single thing. Then, literally one day after announcing that they would not be doing one single thing, this guy sent this out on Aug. 29 via the worldwide net:

The Woke Left Goes Lock, Stock, and Cracker Barrel

As seen in Townhall | Author Jeff Crouere | Aug 25, 2025

Cracker Barrel’s legendary Southern soul is under siege! The beloved American road-stop has ditched its iconic, old-timey charm for a modern, sterile makeover—sparking outrage among loyal fans and costing millions in market value. As executives pursue a “woke” rebrand and strip away nostalgia, critics say the company is abandoning its roots, alienating its base, and handing tradition over to corporate trendsetters.

It happened again. Another legendary American institution has been targeted by woke leftists. This time it is the popular family restaurant chain, Cracker Barrel, founded in 1969.

This is the restaurant people love visiting for its old-fashioned flavor, wholesome Americana in the gift store and great comfort food. It is a welcome respite for travelers who need a break after hours on the highway.

Unfortunately, this successful restaurant chain has been targeted by leftists unhappy with anything that reflects Southern hospitality. The woke CEO of Cracker Barrel, Julie Masino, has announced a new logo. Gone is the image of the elderly gentleman, along with the barrel, and the phrase “Old Country Store.” The replacement is the antiseptic wording “Cracker Barrel” with no images. (A fuller article is linked.)

By enraging MAGA, and providing an important one-day diversion from the Epstein Files, Cracker Barrel got its name, image and likeness all over everything. MAGA was so enraged that Cracker Barrel had to take its support for diversity in America and Pride off its website — that means people of color and people who are gay will never, ever eat there again, because they can’t be sure this company reflects their values.

Cracker Barrel’s marketers told them that, when there were 50 Million old-timers living in the United States, a restaurant appealing to old-timers might make some money. And, boy howdy, it really did.

But, now, there are 35 Million old-timers living in the United States, and they’re dying off faster than old-timers can be made - plus nobody really has any money anymore to eat out - so, maybe, something should be done to make the restaurants a little less old-timey. And more inviting to everyone, despite their old-timiness. What a shock, a restaurant that wants MORE people to come and eat there (and, we still really need one at the intersection of Hwy 72 and I-26 just outside of Clinton, across from the QT).

Of course, in today’s world of EGEAE (everybody gets enraged about everything) that was just the worst thing Cracker Barrel could have done — or not done, as the case turned out, because the company never really had any intention of changing its name, image and likeness in the first place. The company made sure of that when it manipulated some enterprising meme-maker into an image of Uncle Hersh shaking hands with Donald Trump, who would never eat at a Cracker Barrel even if it was the last place in Bedminster still serving (“I don’t eat there, but everybody says it’s pretty good”).

It took its $10 Million in free publicity, and went back to be way it’s always been — with maybe a few less horse harnesses on the wall, and one log on the fire instead of six, and a few less Elvis shot glasses in the gift shop.

Brilliant, Ms. Masino. Absolutely brilliant.
