Marking a century and a half of impact

CLINTON, S.C. – Thornwell, South Carolina’s longest-serving children’s and family ministry, will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a special Founders Day event on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The milestone celebration will honor Thornwell’s legacy as one of the oldest child- and family-focused ministries in the Southeast. Since its founding in 1875, Thornwell has provided life-changing care, support, and resources to children and families in need, growing from its Clinton campus to a regional network of programs across multiple states.

The 150th Founders Day Celebration is an invitation-only event, hosted at Thornwell’s historic Home of Peace on Founders Circle. Guests will enjoy refreshments, door prizes, and a photo booth, while hearing stories of the ministry’s enduring impact.

“This is a moment to pause and give thanks for 150 years of faithful service to children and families,” said Rev. Myron Wilkins, president of Thornwell. “We are looking forward to celebrating the incredible work of our staff, volunteers, donors, and partners who make this mission possible.”

Media outlets are invited to cover the event and schedule interviews with Rev. Wilkins and members of Thornwell’s senior leadership team. Thornwell can provide logos, campus photos, and b-roll to support coverage.
