Team Clinton will be at Clinton City Council meeting on Monday

The team represents South Carolina in the National Science Olympiad in Southern California

Team Clinton -- the South Carolina Champions in Science Olympiad - will be the guests of honor this Monday night of the Clinton City Council.

The team will receive special recognition at the Council's 6 pm meeting in the PS Bailey City Council Chambers of the MS Bailey Municipal Center, 211 N. Broad St., Clinton. The meeting is open to the public. Normally, this meeting would have been on the first Monday, but two council members were out of town with their families for the schools' spring break, so council decided on a week's delay.

Council will recognize citizens who sign up to speak about agenda items - register at the clerk's table before the meeting starts. Council will consider these proclamations:

-- April as Alcohol Awareness Month;

-- April as Autism Awareness Month;

-- April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Council is expected to adopt on 2nd and final reading an ordinance change related to subdivision streets and how they are inspected before being accepted into the City's maintenance system. Council will consider adoption of a Sick Leave Pool Policy. 

Council will consider a reimbursement for matching funds for a grant for the Florida Street Sub-basin Sewer Rehabilitation. First reading will be proposed for an ordinance to establish one-way, west-bound traffic on West Pitts St between N Broad St and Elizabeth St to install angle parking, traffic control and signs, and to provide for enforcement. Two zoning matters will be considered: annexation between Derby Lane and S Broad St, and a change of zoning for these properites: 106, 111 & 112 Davidson St.

Council will consider 1st reading of ordinance changes to. 4 ordinances identified by their ordinance numbers. Date for budget work sessions also will be considered -- council will have a closed session discussion of its contract for animal control with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.

Reports and recommendations will round out the agenda.
