Clinton Red Devil seniors soared back into their former elementary school - Eastside Elementary - Wednesday morning as part of Commencement 2025. The Eagles of Eastside excitedly showed off their hallways festooned with colorful and inspiring posters.
The Eastside/Red Devils wound up their walk at the intersection of Leadership Lane & Proactive Parkway - a relection of the emphasis that the school has been placing on Leadership Training for the next generation.
Walkthroughs also were staged at Clinton Elementary and Joanna Woodson Elementary Schools. As District 56 posted, "It was a great day for a Graduation walk! I don't know who enjoyed it more - the seniors or the elementary students or the teachers!"
The CHS seniors got off their 2 buses at Eastside and went into the cafeteria for a welcome and a group photo. Each walker received an Eagle handheld sign with their name - just in case their former teachers has trouble recognizing their grown-up selves.
A brief time for individual pictures with students and teachers was offered following the walk. The Seniors were coming from their 8:15 am senior breakfast and were due back at the high school -- which is just a few yards away from Eastside on Springdale Drive - for a celebration of seniors headed to college, the military and careers.
The District's academic awards were Wednesday evening, and Senior Night was Thursday - because of the threat of thunderstorms the Senior Fireworks were postponed until June 18. Commencement for the Clinton High School Class of 2025 is at 10 am this morning (May 30) in the main gym, by invitation.
Note: The final photo in this series shows the new security entrance to Eastside Elementary School in Clinton. These new entrances to all schools has been a point of emphasis for District 56 the last several years, enhancing security for students, teachers and staff.
