The Laurens County Sheriff's Office has issued this statement:
"In the early morning hours of June 12th, 2026, Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 3000 block of Torrington Road in Laurens County.
"When the first Deputy arrived on scene, the suspect exited the residence and began shooting at the Deputy. By the grace of God, our Deputy was not injured.
"Shortly thereafter, the suspect was injured by a self-inflicting gunshot wound and transported for further medical treatment.
"This remains a very active and ongoing investigation. Charges will be forthcoming, and additional information will be released as it becomes available."
