Senior Night at The Sponge

Posted

The 9 Clinton High varsity baseball seniors - Tyler Kelly, Tristan Smaltz, Brayden Gibbs, Zach Davis, Chandler Todd, Jeremy Simmons, Davis Cunningham, Braeden Webb and JP Duncan - along with their families were honored Thursday before the Red Devils next to last regular season home game against Abbeville. Running their record to 17-1 with a 1-0 win, the Red Devils got the only run they would need as Gibbs drove in Kelly with one of Clinton's three hits on the night. On the mound, Cunningham put the Clinton not-scored-on innings at 20 consecutive (final 6 scoreless innings in win over Laurens, 7 inning shut-outs against Chester and Abbeville) by throwing a four-hitter with eight Ks. Red Devil baseball's regular season wraps up with a home game Tuesday against Union County, and road games April 21 at Ninety Six and April 22 at South Pointe. Wins against Union and South Pointe would give the Devils a perfect, 10-0 region record for the season.
