"Project Orange" to Joanna, an item for discussion

Laurens County Council will have a closed session discussion of a "proposed location of an industrial site" east of Clinton

The Laurens County Council's Monday evening agenda includes an Executive Session discussion of proposed "Project Orange" in Joanna.

No other details are provided in the agenda, other than the specific purpose, "the discussion of matters relating to the proposed location of an industrial site in Joanna for a project known to the County as 'Project Orange'." Council cannot take any action in the closed session, per state law.

The Laurens County Council meeting will be at 6 p.m. October 12 in the Council Chambers, former main courtroom of the Historic Courthouse in downtown Laurens. Public Comment on agenda items time is Item 7 on the agenda.

Council will provide Special Recognitions to: Captain Troy Aldridge, retirement, and Oct. 23 - 31 as Red Ribbon Week in Laurens County. Reports to Council will include County Administrator Jerre Threatt and John Lumus representing the Upstate Alliance. Council will consider members' submissions for approval of members to County Boards, Commissions & Committees; and have a Public Hearing and 3rd (final) Reading of an ordinance amending the Major Subdivisions ordinance.

Council will consider 1st reading of an ordinance clarifying the penalities for 1st and 2nd offense. Council will consider a resolution to accept donation of 3.8 acres to establish the "Culbertson Mill Park".

County Council Members' comments will round out the open session portion of the meeting. In closed session, Council also will discuss a contract and the purchase of rights-of-way and/or easements for a Hwy 101 By-pass in Gray Court.
