Laurens County Sheriff's Office
On June 4th at approximately 6:30AM, deputies responded to the area of West Corporate Center Drive and Highway 72 E in Clinton in reference to a gunshot victim. The victim succumbed to his injuries and has been identified by the Laurens County Coroner’s Office as 40 year old Brandon Xavier Gadsden of Newberry.
An investigation began immediately, and investigators worked tirelessly to determine where and when the incident occurred. It was determined that Mr. Gadsden was shot while in the parking area of Millers Fork Trail.
At approximately 7PM on this same day, deputies made an arrest.
17-year-old Kevonte Cunningham of Cross Hill was taken into custody and charged as follows:
-Murder
-Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime
