The Clinton Police Department has issued this statement: UPDATE: HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – ARREST
“After extensive efforts to locate the suspect by the Clinton Police Department and SLED, with additional assistance from the Greenwood Police Department and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Jalon Dendy turned himself in this evening (March 30) in connection with the murder of Enoshia Cromer.
“Dendy has been booked into the Johnson Detention Center and is charged with:
• Murder
• Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
“At this time, there is no threat to the public.
“This remains an active investigation. No further information will be released at this time.

The Clinton Police Department has released this statement: “On Sunday, March 29, 2026, just before 10:00 PM, officers with the Clinton Police Department responded to a reported shooting at Forrest Glen Apartments in the City of Clinton.
“Upon arrival, officers located an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The Clinton Police Department, in coordination with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Laurens County Coroner’s Office, and SLED, is actively investigating this incident as a homicide.
“At this time, investigators believe this to be an isolated incident, and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
“This remains a very active investigation, and additional details are not being released at this time.

This is the victim identification statement from the Laurens County Coroner’s Office, Monday afternoon:
“Per Patti Canupp,
“On March 29, 2026, shortly before 10:00 PM, Chief Deputy Coroner Ashley Rushton was notified of a death that occurred at a residence in Clinton, SC in reference to a shooting victim.
“The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old female Enoshia Cromer of Clinton, South Carolina.
“A forensic autopsy was conducted this morning (March 30). The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
“This incident is currently under investigation by the Clinton Police Department, Laurens County Coroner’s Office, Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, and SLED.
“No additional details are available at this time.”
