Wound described by authorities as self-inflicted

Posted

On Tuesday, April 18th, Deputies responded to 2221 Indian Mound Road in reference to serving a Criminal Sexual Conduct warrant on a subject.

The individual immediately refused to comply or speak with Deputies, presenting what appeared to be a weapon and barricading himself in the residence. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was activated and contact was attempted with the subject. SWAT administered non-lethal methods, however, the subject continued to be combative and noncompliant. Once Deputies were able to make entry into the home, they discovered the individual to have a self-inflicted wound at which time he was taken into medical custody to receive immediate attention. The subject did succumb to his injuries and has been identified as 57-year-old Keith William Dramstad.

Cause and manner of death will be determined by the Coroner's Office.

The chief deputy Coroner Patti Canupp issued a statement identifying the victim as Keith William Dramstad 57 of Laurens.  The decedent went for an autopsy this am for the cause of death. I will update his cause of death when I find out today. The decedent did die in the EMS truck right at the scene waiting on the Life Flight.

SLED is assisting in the investigation of this incident.

Indian Mound Road is southwest of Clinton, between Laurens and Waterloo.
