LAURENS — Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) kicked off its series of Facility Needs Town Halls on March 10th at the Laurens District 55 High School Lecture Theatre. Building on the momentum of this initial meeting, the district is calling on all stakeholders—staff, families, business leaders, and community members—to join the upcoming sessions to help shape the future of local schools.
These town halls are a critical component in Building a 5-Star Culture of Excellence 2.0 in LCSD 55. By engaging the community, LCSD 55 hopes that every facility will help support achieving excellence in five core areas: academics, attendance, arts, athletics, and atmosphere.
“We had a productive start on March 10th, but in truly Building a 5-Star Culture of Excellence, we need to hear from as many voices as possible,” said Superintendent Dr. Jody Penland.
“Our focus on the 5 A’s requires facilities that can sustain high-level performance in academics, arts, and athletics. We want our community to be active partners in deciding how we move forward to provide an A+ Atmosphere for every student,” he added.
The meetings are designed to provide transparent information regarding the district's current facility needs and to gather direct input on potential solutions.
Dr. Rhett Harris, Assistant Superintendent who oversees operations & facility management, added, “The feedback we receive is vital. We are looking to grow our attendance at each subsequent meeting to ensure our long-term plans reflect the needs and desires of the entire Laurens community. Whether you are a parent, a local business owner, or a concerned citizen, your perspective helps us address our infrastructure challenges effectively.”
Residents are encouraged to attend any of the remaining scheduled sessions:
LCSD 55 remains committed to making learning visible and celebrated, ensuring that the district's physical environment matches the excellence of its students and staff.
