Lady Red Devils -- Region Championship I

Posted

REMEMBER THAT TIME ... we all got together to cheer for the Clinton High Varsity Girls’ Basketball Team, as they won the Region Championship over Woodruff. In Post-Season Honors, De’Shanti Watts, junior, Clinton High’s all-state swing player, was named the Laurens County Girls’ Player of the Year - also Region Player of the Year and an All-State selection. Joining Watts on the 10-member girls’ team were Tinique Austin, Taneal Evans and Payton Price-Walker of Clinton. Watts averaged 13 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals for the Red Devils, along with Austin (10 ppg, 12 rpg), Price-Walker (5.5 ppg, 10 rpg, 4 blocks per game) and Evans (6.3 ppg, 3.0 assists, 3.0 steals, 3.0 rebounds) on the all-county team. More awards are likely -- The Clinton High Fall-Winter Sports Award program is Feb. 27. - Photos by Vic MacDonald
