On Nov. 14, 2019, the Laurens County Water & Sewer Commission took the momentus step of breaking ground for a raw water intake, treatment plant and distribution system on Lake Greenwood. It was also November, about 35 years earlier, when federal money also enabled the young LCWSC to form, serving water customers throughout Laurens County. With this step, Laurens County is committing along with Greenwood County to the preservation of this natural resource. This is a $52.5 Million project, funded in large part by a US Department of Agriculture - Rural Development loan-interest loan. The "official" ground-breaking photos and article are in the Nov. 20 issue of The Clinton Chronicle - these are some others from an important date in Laurens County history. - Vic MacDonald Photos
