Friday morning dawned as a day of reckoning for some unfortunate inmates in downtown Laurens. They had to pay at least $100 bond to be released on their own recognizance from the Laurens County Sheriff's Office's Jail & Bail.
But, fear not, it's all for a worthwhile cause -- the annyal Christmas for Kids Program. From 8:30 am to 3:30 pm the Plaza on the Laurens Square was transformed with make-shift cells for these hardened inmates. They worked their own phones to raise their bail, all under the watchful eye of Sheriff's officers and volunteers.
People were encouraged to "turn in" their willing family members, friends, co-workers - or even themselves!! - to make Christmas a brighter time for those in need.
This is event-day (May 16), you can call 864-871-8497 to make a donation to the Jail & Bail Fundraiser - or, when someone you know calls you and asks for "bail money," be kind.
The Kids of Laurens County thank you.
