Coach Fountain, his coaches and players - with overwhelming support of the greater Clinton community - brought home the hardware Thursday from a 35-6 win over Barnwell.
Touchdowns were scored by Tushawan Richardson, DJ Clar, Rhett Gilliam (2 and a 2-pt conversion), and Devin Swindler. The Red Devil offense used 61 players to gain 349 yard.
The Devil D held the Warhorses - which had been averaging 40 ppg - to 155 yards on 53 plays.
Coach Fountain said the boys get next week off, and in January, they're going back to work.
Clinton ends its season 12-2. Barnwell wraps up its Lower State Championship-winning season at 13-2.
Clinton - Barnwell was the first of six South Carolina High School League football championships to be played this weekend at Oliver Dawson Stadium, Willie Jeffries Field, South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.
