An "update from the Finance Director" is an agenda item for a closed / executive session / work session that the Clinton City Council has scheduled for this Monday night.
The agenda says that the Council will gather at 5 p.m. in the PS Bailey City Council Chambers, MS Bailey Center at 211 North Broad St., Clinton.
State law allows government bodies to meet in executive session to discuss prescribed topics where secrecy is important. Finances are not one of those allowed topics.
The council will hear from Joel Ledbetter, from the PMPA electricity-provider. about the idea and mechanism for selling excess electricity capacity. Those funds go into a Rate Stabilization Fund that, in the past, has been used to pay city bills, but now can be accessed only through a specific vote, for a specific purpose by the Clinton City Council.
Council also will be "updated" on the Clinton Economic Development Corporation, according to the agenda.
The agenda also includes a reminder: on Sept. 9, a ribbon-cutting will be held for the Clinton Depot Kiosk at 3 p.m. The structure details the important Revolutionary War skirmishes that happened near Clinton.
The Clinton City Council's regular monthly meeting dates are the 1st Monday of each month (except holidays).
