Car vs bike collision remains under investigation

Authorities are investigating after a person on a bicycle was killed Sunday night in Clinton.

The bike vs car accident was reported at 10 p.m. at the Gary Street / Charlottes Road intersection, according to a Highway Patrol announcement.

The person who died has not yet been identified as of 11 a.m. Monday. A report said the car involved was a 2006 Audi sedan, which rear-ended the bike and then went off the road’s left side, hitting a tree. No serious injuries were reported for the Audi driver. 

Laurens County Coroner's Office:

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office has issued this statement: “Per Coroner Patti Canupp, she was called to the scene around 9:00 p.m. (April 5) in response to an accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle.

“Coroner Canupp identified the decedent as Rashaad Isaiah Kinard, a 19-year-old male from Clinton. Mr. Kinard was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
