Clinton City Councill will give 1st reading approval to zoning 446 acres this Monday night - the Planning Commission will have a public hearing on this request on Nov. 11.

This will be the site of a travel baseball complex for which the City sold more than 500 acres to a developer earlier this year. The City Council agenda says it is 1st reading of an ordinance amending the zoning designation of properties on East Corporate Center Drivem Post Drive, SC Hwy72 East, and Old Colony Road. A Planning Commission notice previously published said the same tract will be re-zoned from Agriculture, Low Density Residential, and General Commercial, to PDD (Planned Development).

The Clinton City Council meeting - open to the piublic - will be at 6 pm Monday, Nov. 3, in the PS Bailey City Council Chambers of the MS Bailey Municipal Center. Council plans toi give 1st reading to the additional sale of 4.55 additional acres to the same developer - ARC Management - that envisions a subdivision, hotels and restaurants, and retail space adjacent to the travel baseball complex.

Supporters have called it a "game changer" development for the future of the City of Clinton. It is on land deeded to the City by the State of South Carolina as "surplus property" of Whitten Center.

In addition to the zoning and the land sale, the Council will hear from citizens who register to speak prior to the meeting on any item that is on the agenda, will issue 6 proclamation including Nov. 29 as Small Business Saturday in the City of Clinton, 1st reading on the zoning designation of 1.09 acres on the southwest side of Hwy 76, 2nd and final reading on zoning for 43.9 acres on the southwest side of Commerce Avenue, an amendment to the business license schedule, and appointment of a Christmas Parade Grand Marshal.

Reports and recommendations from the City Manager, Finance Director, Council Members and the Mayor will round out the agenda.
