Arthur “Ray” Chestein

LAURENS - Arthur “Ray” Chestein, 82, of Ranch Road and husband of Susan Armstrong Chestein, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Regency Hospital in Anderson.

Born in Laurens on April 27, 1943, he was the son of the late Lee Arthur “Shorty” Chestein and Juanita Weathers Chestein. Ray served his country in the SC Army National Guard. He retired as manager from Winn Dixie after 46 years of service. After retiring, Ray continued to work part-time at Ingles. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gray Court. In his younger years, Ray enjoyed hiking and going to the beach. This love for the outdoors translated into his meticulous care for his yard. Above all, he loved his family immensely and especially his grandsons who were the joy of his life. 

In addition to his wife, he was survived by his children, Marshay Craig (Tad) and Darren Chestein; grandchildren, Elijah Craig and Micah Craig; sister, Tricia Beardsley (David); and a niece, Liz Ross (Brandon).

A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at First Baptist Church Gray Court conducted by Rev. Tad Craig and Rev. James Manning.
