Alleged criminal sexual conduct with a minor charge

The state’s law enforcement agency has announced charges against Laurens County man for alleged criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Na’Quone Daysean Smith, 30, with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 3rd Degree on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

The Laurens Police Department requested the SLED investigation.

Smith was booked into the Laurens County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 8th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

An affidavit says that the incident happened on or about January or February, 2025, in Laurens County. The suspect, the allegation says, “did willfully commit the lewd and lascivious act of touching the victim’s (redacted) and genital area over top of the victim’s clothing. The act was committed with the intent of arousing, appealing to, or gratifying the lust, passions, or sexual desires of the defendant. The victim was thirteen (13) years old and the defendant was twenty eight (28) years old at the time of the incident.”

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
