Thrilling Day of Competition at CHS

CLINTON, SC - October 26, 2024 - Clinton High School (CHS) made school history on Saturday, hosting its first-ever Red Devil Cheer Classic, an electrifying competition that brought together top cheerleading teams from across the state. Meanwhile, the school's Cross Country team played host to the Region 3, AA championship, showcasing the school's commitment to athletic excellence.
 
The Red Devil Cheer Classic marked a significant milestone for CHS, highlighting the school's growth in competitive cheerleading. The event drew enthusiastic crowds, who cheered on their favorite teams as they vied for top honors.
 
Meanwhile, on the cross country front, CHS's top-notch facilities played host to the Region 3, AA championship. The meet brought together talented runners from across the region, each competing for a spot at the state championship.
 
"We've had a great season, and I'm excited to see how we preform against  the region." said Lee Atkinson, CHS Cross Country Coach.
 
CHS would like to extend its gratitude to the volunteers, coaches, and athletes who made Saturday's events possible.

The Boys’ XC team made it 4 in a row, capturing the Region 3, AA title at the Clinton home course. 

This senior class has won 5 region titles since they started running cross country as 7th graders.

William Reid (All-Region and the Individual Region Champion) finished 1st with a time of 17:02. This is the second year in a row that William has been the overall champion.

Sam Gearheart (all-Region) finished 3rd with a time of 18:12

Cooper Stinson (All-Region) finshed 4th with a time of 18:31

Bennet Nolan (All-Region) finished  7th with a time of 19:21

Wilkes McWatters (All-Region) finished 8th with a time of 19:27

Cade Lyda finished 11th with a time of  19:58

Chris Fortman finished 16th with a time of 20:30

DaRell Grant finished 21st with a time of 21:09

Corey Riden finished 24th with a time of 21:29

Elliott King finished 28th with a time of 22:15

Nick Nelson finished 31st with a time of 22:35

Davis Young finished 32nd with a time of 22:36

Adam Wofford finished 33rd with a time of 22:44

Colby Noffz finished     41st with a time of 24:51

William Wyatt finished 43rd  with a time of 24:58

Jace Barnes finished 56th with a time of  28:27

In a very tight race, the girls’ XC team came up just 1 point short of winning the region championship today. I’m really proud of their effort. They left it all on the course. Our finishers today were:

Calvary Lyda (All-Region)  finished in 2nd Place with a new PR of 24:02

Elizabeth Reid (All-Region) finished in 5th place with a time of 24:38

Camori Pyles (All-Region) finished in 6th place with a time of 24:51

Marissa Brewer (All-Region) finished 7th Place with a time of 25:11

Danielle Trent (All-Region) finshed 10th with a time of  26:47

Gemma Gearheart finished 11th with a time of 26:57

Erin Donley finished 12th with a time of 27:22

Haisley Dawson finished 13th with a time of 27:36

Maddie Hodge finished 16th with a time of 28:12

Natalia Morgan finished 19th with a time of 29:09
