Posted

The Clinton High Red Devil Red vs White Spring Game showcased the running attacks of both teams on May 23. The game was delayed because of rain from the previous Friday, but a crowd of about 1,000 Red Devil football fans turned out to see rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade players run and pass from a variety of formations. Head Coach Andrew Webb said there were kinks to iron out, but he was pleased with the players' enthusiasm. Red receiver Shy Spearman caught the game's final touchdown as the Red won 40-27. For the Red, Mark Wise scored on a 40-yard run, QB Charlie Craven tossed a 40-yard TD pass to Taylor Bailey, and Elvis Fitz booted a 40-yard field goal and PATs. For the White, Zykail Livingston scored on a 45-yard run, QB Jahleed Carter hit Austin Gardner with a 25-yard pass and ran in a 40-yard score, Tashymen Boyd ran in from 50 yards out, and Jay Grant tallied a 40-yard TD run. In the 2nd half, both teams started their offense from the 40 yard line. The Red Devils will start summer workouts in August in preparation for the 2016 season-opener - Aug. 26 playing host to the AAAAA (new classification) Laurens Raiders.
