Thornwell Charter School is proud to launch its “Light the Way” Capital Campaign, a $200,000 fundraising effort to install lights at its existing softball field and make facility improvements that will provide new opportunities for Thornwell’s student-athletes and school community.
The “Light the Way” Capital Campaign will give Thornwell’s Lady Saints softball team the opportunity to host evening home games while creating a space for families, alumni, and community members to gather and support student-athletes.
“Our student-athletes work incredibly hard, both on and off the field, and this project is about giving them a facility they can be proud to call home,” said Thornwell Charter Executive Director Norman Dover. “We are excited to invite our community to be part of this investment in our students.”
Thornwell hopes to raise the full $200,000 by December 2026, with the goal of having the lights fully operational by March 1, 2027.
The campaign includes several levels of giving, and every contribution brings TCS one step closer to reaching their $200,000 goal. TCS is especially encouraging supporters to consider joining the 1% Club with a gift of $2,000. A contribution of just 1% of the total campaign goal makes a meaningful impact and helps move this project closer to becoming a reality. In recognition of donor generosity, donor’s names or business names will be featured on a permanent plaque at the softball field.
Plaque Recognition Levels:
Light the Way Partner - 1% Club: $2,000
Guiding Light Sponsor: $5,000
Shining Saints Sponsor: $8,000
Champions Circle: $10,000
Thornwell Charter School is also hosting several events to support these fundraising efforts. The Lady Saints softball team will be selling BBQ plates at the Varsity Football game against Abbeville on October 23rd.
Plates may be pre-ordered through Hudl at https://fan.hudl.com/tickets/VGlja2V0ZWRFdmVudDZhYTJlYmFkNWIxYmViMWE5ZTZlNjliYg== and are $14 per plate.
TCS is also hosting a sporting clay shoot at the Clinton House on Thursday, December 3rd, 2026. “We hope our families, local businesses, alumni, and friends of Thornwell will join us in bringing this vision to life,” Dover said. “These lights will create new opportunities for our students and become something our entire community can enjoy.”
Thornwell Charter School is incredibly grateful for every gift, regardless of the amount. We understand that not every donor may be able to participate at the $2,000 level, and we want every supporter to have the opportunity to be part of this exciting project. Donors who give $500, $1,000, or $1,500 will be recognized on banners displayed around the softball field as a lasting thank-you for helping us bring this vision to life.
