Kibby is week's top athlete

PC Football's game this Saturday will honor Hometown Heroes

The most impactful offensive player during a 52-0 shutout of Virginia-Lynchburg over the weekend, junior wide receiver Dominic Kibby of the Presbyterian College football team has been selected as the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week.

The go-to target in the passing attack since he arrived on campus in 2022, Kibby flamed the Dragons on Saturday with seven catches for 155 yards. He posted his first individual touchdown of the season in the 3rd quarter from 47 yards out, his longest reception of 2024 thus far.

Hailing from Maryland, Dominic assembled his sixth 100-yard performance in a Blue Hose uniform across the VUL blowout. His 155 yards are the third-most from any player in the Pioneer Football League through the first three weeks of the campaign.

Already in second-place in Presby’s D-I record book (since 2007) for career yardage by a receiver, Kibby has never missed a game for head coach Steve Englehart since his freshman stint.

In 25 appearances, Dominic has tallied 96 catches for 1,735 yards. He gathered his 12th career touchdown versus Virginia-Lynchburg, now just four receptions away from becoming the eighth Blue Hose over the past 17 years to catch 100 balls.

A two-time All-PFL honoree (and a first-teamer as a sophomore), Kibby is currently only 600 yards away from breaking PC’s Division I cumulative record. Keith Pearson (2017-20) displays the most with 2,304.

Since ’22, Dominic has put together an average of 18 yards per catch. That’s the most in Presby’s D-I era of anyone who has spent more than two years with the program.

LOOKING AHEAD

Two straight massive matchups are on tap for Presbyterian and will both be held at Bailey Memorial Stadium, welcoming Gardner-Webb and Davidson for consecutive night games.

Coach Englehart’s gang will face G-W on September 21 for a 7:00 PM kickoff, the first time that the Runnin’ Bulldogs will visit Clinton since 2019.

Despite an 0-3 record, Gardner-Webb has given FBS opponents James Madison and Charlotte all they could handle. Those contests were decided by a combined clip of eight points, dropping a dramatic finish to the 49ers after a two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful with 1:55 remaining.

GAME ONE

The Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One on a multi-year apparel agreement in November 2022 as an official team dealer for Adidas. The partnership extended the university’s alliance with Adidas which began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.

Game One is among the largest and fastest-growing sports equipment and apparel suppliers in the country, serving a loyal customer base of 13,000 schools and organizations in 38 states.
