The new picnic shelter at Pinehaven Park is crushed.

The city's sign for the recreation center is in the middle of tree branches.

The new Clinton library seems to be OK, because a large tree in the back fell away from the building.

The rear entrance to the gym and cafeteria at Clinton High School looked like a utility staging area because crews were getting a hot mid-day meal.

These are the sights of Clinton on September 30, along with the whirl of chainsaws clawing out residents of Lydia Mill from under hundreds a tree branches.

Slowly, Clinton is recovering from Horrible Helene.

Nearby, the board of Main Street Laurens has decided to postpone Squealin’ on the Square from this weekend to a date to be announced. The square has power, but some of the side streets still have disastrous conditions.

In Cross Hill, District 56 staff was handing out food, as they did at CHS and in Joanna.

Thornwell in Clinton, which started as an orphanage, issued an updated condition statement. More than 30 trees are down, and some buildings are damaged. The best way to help now is CASH to: thornwell.org/give/

Also, Sadler-Hughes Apothecary is providing community service As of Monday afternoon, the phones were down, but they were able to process claims. They have refrigerated packs for people who need to keep insulin cool (bring old ones for trade-in). They also have a conference room for charging phones.

Also on Monday, the Laurens County Coroner's Office identified 3 local Hurricane Helene victims:

Richard Dylan Rathbone, 31, and Thomas Carson Lawson, 41, both of Clinton, who died when a tree fell on a car in Clinton; and

Carl Thomas Bailey, 54, of Cross Hill, who died when a tree fell on a camper.
