During its final meeting of the 2025-26 academic year, District 56 Trustees were treated Monday night to a puppet show by the 4K students of the district’s child development center.
Meanwhile, Clinton High School Guidance has issued a word of caution related to May 29 Commencement exercises in the school’s main gym:
“As graduation approaches we want to remind guests we ask that all applause and celebration be held until the last graduate’s name is read. We do not want excessive noise or celebration to take away from any individual who has worked hard for this special day.
“The City of Clinton Police Department would like to inform the public that a new ordinance has been approved regarding conduct at public ceremonies and city-sponsored events.
“Effective immediately, any individual removed from a public ceremony due to excessive noise, disruptive conduct, or inappropriate behavior will be given a $500 citation in accordance with the ordinance.
“This measure was adopted to help ensure that all attendees, participants, and families can safely and respectfully enjoy community events without disruption.”
In Board action, the Trustees gave first reading approval to the FY 2026-27 budget and adopted the 2027-28 Academic Calendar. For the academic year after next, first day back for students will be August 4, as D56 continues operations under a modified, year-round calendar. Fall Break will be Oct. 11-15 that year, and students are back from winter break on Jan. 4, 2028.
Each meeting (normally 4th Monday of the month but that date this year is Memorial Day), the Board has students from the various schools present The Pledge of Allegiance and hears a school-projects report. The April 27 presenters were from Joanna-Woodson Elementary School.
Following the May 18 presentation, the District posted:
“Our 4K students did an amazing job performing at the School Board meeting! They proudly led the Pledge of Allegiance, sang two wonderful songs, and even used puppets during one of their performances.
“One special moment was seeing our Superintendent join in the fun with a puppet of his own — and you could tell he truly enjoyed every minute of it!
“We are so proud of our 4K students and teachers for sharing their talents and bringing smiles to everyone in the room.
“We only have a few spaces left for next year’s 4K program. If you would like to enroll your child, please contact us soon!” (More: https://msb.lcsd56.org/en-US)
