LAURENS COUNTY — Michanna Talley Tate, Democratic candidate for South Carolina House of Representatives District 14, announced today (Oct. 13) that her campaign has received several endorsements from wide-ranging organizations and even former DNC Chair, Jaime Harrison.
3.14 Action
Mrs. Tate has been endorsed by 3.14 Action, an organization that endorses scientists. Years before Tate became an attorney, she was a scientist. 3.14 Action states “There isn't an issue that doesn't benefit from having scientists at the decision-making table — from climate change to reproductive healthcare, scientists are data-driven who will champion fact-based policies.” 3.14 Action has also endorsed Annie Andrews for US Senate.
The South Carolina Education Association (SCEA)
Mrs. Tate has been endorsed by the SCEA. Before and during her time as an attorney, she taught at several different colleges and universities including Greenville Tech and USC Upstate. The SCEA states “Voting for pro-public education candidates at the local, state, and federal level is one of the most effective ways to stand up for public schools. That's why we must elect champions of public education.”
The American People’s Compact (APC)
Mrs. Tate has been endorsed by the APC. According to their website, “The APC represents the will of the people, and presents a winning strategy for all politicians, regardless of party.” Their vision is based on the fact that people in America “We want health care we can afford, safe neighborhoods, well-resourced schools, accessible housing, and a fair shot to build a good life. Yet too often, our politics divide us, turning neighbors into rivals and putting special interests ahead of everyday citizens. The system isn’t working, and it’s time for a plan that brings us together.”
Future Dems
Mrs. Tate has been endorsed by Future Dems, an organization that endorses first time candidates and candidates under the age of 40. Their website states “Those who led us into this moment of crisis cannot be the voices trusted to lead us out of it. The electorate that will determine our elections has evolved – and leadership must change, too.”
The endorsements mark an important distinction for Tate’s campaign as she seeks to represent Laurens County in the South Carolina General Assembly.
“As an attorney, I have built my career around listening to people, examining the facts, and advocating for those who need a voice,” Tate said. “I am running for the State House because I believe the people of Laurens County deserve a representative who will listen to their concerns, take their challenges seriously, and work toward practical solutions.”
Tate’s campaign is grounded in her personal investment in the community. Her and her husband noticed a need in Laurens County shortly and instead of complaining about it, they did something about it, by opening KOT Pack and Ship. That is yet another reason why she is running. There is a need for new and different representation for Laurens County.
“I am honored that these organizations have recognized my candidacy. Their support encourages me to continue building a campaign focused on the needs, hopes, and concerns of the people I seek to represent.”
Tate says her legal experience has prepared her to approach public service with careful analysis, thoughtful advocacy, and a commitment to fairness.
She has also received additional recognition from Mental Health Now and Moms Demand Action, though these designations are not formal endorsements.
“I believe public service is about showing up, listening, and doing the work,” Tate said. “Laurens County deserves leadership that understands all communities in District 14 and remains accountable to the people. I look forward to continuing to meet residents, hear their concerns, and earn their support.”
Tate is encouraging Laurens County residents to become involved in the campaign by volunteering, sharing the campaign's message, and helping build community participation ahead of Election Day.
