Elementary students in District 56 on Tuesday (April 17) competed in the 3rd annual culinary arts contest sponsored by the Office of Child Nutrition. They shared the Clinton High School cafeteria and kitchen with the chef of the Child Nutrition department, came up with their own recipes from a list of ingredients, and presented their dishes to 4 judges who named 3 winners. The new chefs got their aprons and chef hats to keep, along with a Kids Cook book to try out more dishes. "They are all winners," Child Nutrition Director Cindy Jacobs said. The contestants all were school winners, who earned their way into the districtwide cooking culinary arts competition - "Congratulations to our many talented chefs," Superintendent Dr. David O'Shields said.
