SCHOOL DISTRICT 56 HAS ISSUED THIS STATEMENT ABOUT A THREAT TO CLINTON MIDDLE SCHOOL:

September 11, 2024

The safety of our school community will always be the top priority of Laurens County School District 56. As you may know, there has been an increase in reported threats to schools in our local area and country over the last few days. While none of these threats have been credible, our school district appreciates school administration and law enforcement officials working together to investigate all leads. We have been made aware of a potential threat at Clinton Middle School and law enforcement has investigated. As a precautionary measure and to reassure students and staff, there is an increase in local police presence at Clinton Middle School.

As parents, please remember to stress to your child the seriousness of these threats. We will take every threat seriously and will investigate diligently with law enforcement to assess the threat level. The consequences for these types of threats are severe. If identified, students will be disciplined in accordance with District 56 policy and potentially prosecuted by law enforcement.

Communication is key to working together effectively. Please encourage your child to contact an administrator, teacher, or staff member at our school whenever they notice any type of threat. We appreciate your help as we work together to keep all of our students safe and help them make positive choices for themselves and our community.
