On March 31, 2026, the Laurens County Coroner’s Office received a call regarding human remains discovered in a heavily wooded area in Ware Shoals, South Carolina.
Due to the advanced decomposition of the remains and the lack of identification at the time they were discovered, the individual was initially unidentified. The remains were sent for forensic examination to determine the individual’s sex, approximate age, and other identifying characteristics, as well as to assist in determining whether there was any evidence of foul play.
Following extensive examination and testing, Laurens County Coroner Patti Canupp has identified the remains as Taylor Zachary Timms, a 33-year-old male from Ware Shoals who had previously been reported missing.
The identification process took some time due to the condition of the remains. When only human remains are recovered, extensive forensic examination and testing may be necessary to gather sufficient evidence to confirm the identity of the deceased, the Coroner's Office said in a statement.
Coroner Patti Canupp and the Laurens County Coroner’s Office extend their deepest condolences to Mr. Timms’ family and loved ones during this difficult time. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
