- The Hoyas tied it up in the top of the sixth, but the bottom of the inning saw a two-run homer from the veteran Ryan Ouzts, giving Presby a 6-4 advantage.
- The Hoyas went on to score a run in both the seventh and eighth innings, while holding PC scoreless.
- With Nick SmithJackson Hugus, and Andrew Albertus able to get on base in the bottom of the ninth, a walk from Fenderson closed out the game with Presby in front 7-6.

Game Two
- Once again neither team was able to pick up any runs in the first two innings, but Georgetown was the first to score this time after grabbing a run in the third.
- The bottom of the second inning saw an RBI single from Jake Randolph and an RBI double from Rollison, giving PC the lead 2-1.

- In the bottom of the sixth Eli Lazio singled to left field before Albertus knocked one deep down the left field line to score Lazio.
- A big seventh inning for the Hoyas cut Presbyterian's lead to 6-5, but with Jacob Fields taking over on the mound for the final 2.1 innings the Blue Hose had nothing to worry about. Fields earned the save in his debut with the Blue Hose, securing the victory.

Blue Hose Bust Out Two Tight Victories over ETSU & Maine

The clutch gene was bulging for the Presbyterian College softball team on Friday evening at the Pinnacle PC Invitational, leading for 12 of the 14 innings against ETSU and Maine on their way to a day one sweep.

Adding up for 17 hits and a couple of superb pitching performances by Peyton Duncan and Kasey Wolfe, the Blue Hose knocked off the Buccaneers 4-2 and then held on late for a 6-5 decision to topple the Black Bears.

Head coach David Williams' roster found contributions from seemingly everywhere as they improved to 4-3 on the young season, capitalizing on a four-score 3rd inning during the W over Maine.

Pending cooperation from Mother Nature, Presby will be back at it on Saturday for two more bouts against the same opponents, just in different order. Currently, tomorrow's DH is aimed for a 2:15 start.

NOTABLES

- Duncan secured her second personal win of the season and the team's first complete game of the calendar, surviving 28 batters and allowing only three hits against East Tennessee State.

- Wolfe added another pitching gem as the Blue Hose outlasted Maine, throwing the last six frames while also collecting two RBI that proved crucial down the stretch.

- Bringing her season average up to .350 as the team's lead-off shortstop, rookie Baxleigh Arnette was terrific in Friday's two-parter as she went four-of-six at the plate with two runs scored and a stolen base.

- Both of senior Kelby Goodrum's connections ended up bringing in a Blue Hose run, while classmate Kendall Owens lined up three hits over the course of the day and earned her second RBI of the season versus Maine.

- Rightfielder Mallory Fletcher escalated her season slugging percentage to an impressive .889, notching a double against the Black Bears and a triple against the Buccaneers.

GAME ONE – PC def. ETSU, 4-2

- Duncan's expertise in the circle was a problem that ETSU couldn't solve over seven solid innings, as both of the Bucs' runs were only submitted due to an error.

- Thus, the junior lowered her ERA to an even 3.00 through 16.1 innings, holding the second, third, and fourth batters of ETSU's order to a combined 0-for-7.

- A run-scoring single from Goodrum provided PC with their first run of the afternoon, while the Scotsmen took a lead they'd never relinquish thanks to a 1st-frame wild pitch.

Blair Darby's comeback season from injury continues to flourish with a 4th-inning RBI (her fourth of the month already), which gave the Blue Hose a 3-1 edge at the game's midway point.

- It was a double-dose of freshmen who gave the Scotsmen some insurance in the bottom of the 6th, as Olivia Goforth (in her collegiate debut) batted in pinch-runner Sabrina Rose for the game's final score.

GAME TWO – PC def. MAINE, 6-5

- Coach Williams' unit shook off a sloppy beginning to the nightcap by going on a mid-game four-run spurt that all happened in one inning.

- Wolfe guided a laser down the third-base line to break a two-all tie, wrangling in Goodrum and Arnette to once again give PC a lead that they would never loosen up on.

- A solo homer in the top of the 4th didn't deter Presby's spirit in pushing to the finish line, doubling up the Black Bears 6-3 on a sacrifice fly ball from catcher Molly Mattas.

- PC's defense turned up huge in a key moment during the 6th: with one out recorded and the bases juiced, leftfielder Morgan Farthing recovered from a base hit that landed in her vicinity to rifle a pass to Arnette who in turn found Mattas at home base to tag a would-be scorer with zero seconds to spare.

- Wolfe struck out the next batter to end the inning, with the previous play ultimately preventing the contest from going into the bottom of the 7th or extra's.

Emma Yanes closed the door on the victory with a putout to leave a runner on second-base, allowing Presbyterian to achieve their fourth win of the season by three scores or fewer.
