To little surprise, the Presbyterian College football team is featured heavily on Thursday afternoon’s Phil Steele Magazine all-conference rollout, breaking another program record with 10 players making the cut.

In addition to four first-teamers and three more on the second-team roster, rookie quarterback Collin Hurst was selected by Phil Steele as the Pioneer Football League Freshman of the Year and a third-team Freshman All-American.

The Blue Hose penned an impressive late-season turnaround after numerous close defeats in 2024, winning their last four games and capping the campaign by defeating #23 Butler (30-27) to solidify PC’s first victory over a ranked opponent in 10 years.

Head coach Steve Englehart accomplished the school’s first six-win season since 2014, snatching Presbyterian’s first four-game winning streak since 2007.

By upsetting Butler just before Thanksgiving, the Blue Hose completed an undefeated record in the month of November for the first time since 2002 and tied the conference’s best number with six All-PFL First Team members on December 3.

In each of Englehart’s three seasons in Clinton, the Blue Hose gained a Freshman All-American per Phil Steele. Hurst follows in the footsteps of Dominic Kibby (2022) and Mack Mikko (2023) who also achieved this feat.

A finalist for the Jerry Rice Award – given annually to the top freshman at the FCS level – Hurst engineered PC’s breakout season with a 66-percent completion rate, over 2,300 passing yards (198 per game), and 22 total touchdowns.

He posted the best pass efficiency rating of anyone in the PFL (154.84), completing 73 percent of this attempts during the season-ending four-game winning streak and tallying at least one passing TD in 10 games.

Hurst logged 13 more passing touchdowns than interceptions, not throwing a single INT over the final five outings (135 consecutive throws). He surpassed 1,100 yards in that stretch alone and now ranks second in PC’s single-season record book with 187 completions.

DOMINIC KIBBY | Jr. | WR | Catonsville, Md.

Phil Steele All-PFL 1st Team

A Phil Steele regular due to three 700-yard seasons in a row, Kibby needs just 29 more yards to break Presbyterian’s Division I career record with one season of eligibility still left in the tank.

He already holds PC’s receiving touchdown record, hauling in his 15th score in a Blue Hose uniform during a 28-point spanking of Stetson which just so happened to break another record on a 94-yard loft (Presby’s longest-ever passing play from scrimmage).

Kibby has mustered at least 100 receiving yards seven times in his college tenure, combining for 136 career catches which adds up for 2,304 yards.

WORTH WARNER | Sr. | TE | Raleigh, N.C.

Phil Steele All-PFL 1st Team

A loyal Blue Hose competitor from beginning to end, Warner’s final season in the blue and garnet entailed 27 receptions for 315 yards. He accounted for four touchdowns, two of which happened in a rushing capacity while taking a direct snap.

Worth clasped two receiving TD’s for the second time in his career to aid in the triumph over Butler, harvesting the game-tying touchdown in the 3rd quarter to start a 16-0 run.

Over his last two seasons in Englehart’s system, Worth combined for 58 catches, 718 yards, and seven scores. He secured a personal-best 132 yards in the PFL opener at Davidson.

ZACH SWITZER | Sr. | RB/RS | Spring Hill, Tenn.

Phil Steele All-PFL 1st Team

Another PC player who enjoyed career-high’s in virtually every category as a senior, Switzer amassed 1,250 all-purpose yards and 673 in kick return duties.

That’s more AP yards than any other athlete in the Pioneer League, busting out a 90-yard kick return touchdown during an early-season W at Erskine (the only player in the PFL to take a kickoff to the house in 2024).

Seven of Switzer’s kick returns went for a minimum of 35 yards, including a 57-yarder to set up a momentum-shifting TD at Marist and two 40-yarders in the season-starter at Mercer.

A do-it-all threat, Zach produced 577 extra yards in rushing and receiving, putting three more touchdowns to his name.

CALEB FRANCIS | Jr. | DB | Jacksonville, Fla.

Phil Steele All-PFL 1st Team

Rewarded for something of a sneaky-good season at corner, Francis evolved into a no-nonsense defender with three interceptions that all happened in consecutive conference meetings. Each of those picks were in single coverage on a deep route, making a diving catch on each takeaway.

Francis led the conference with 10 pass deflections on the year, placing fourth on the roster with 50 tackles and forcing a fumble against eventual PFL champion Drake at Bailey Memorial Stadium.

The Floridian disrupted five passes during the season-ending four-game winning streak, the focal point of a PC secondary who let opposing quarterbacks hit a 119 efficiency rating which ranked inside the nation’s top 25.

QUANTE JENNINGS | Sr. | RB | Cartersville, Ga.

Phil Steele All-PFL 2nd Team

Saving the best for last after spending the majority of his PC career as a backup, Jennings ended his college story with a bang by rushing for 190 yards and a pivotal second-half TD in the Butler victory.

That’s the most yards on the ground by any Presby running back in the Englehart era, breaking a 20-20 tie with 4:43 left in the 3rd to put his squad ahead for good.

Quante carried the torch in the RB room with 91 carries and 634 yards as a senior, finding the end zone three times during the season-ending win streak and collecting 414 rushing yards in those four games alone.

He ends the fall slate with 7.0 yards per carry, setting a new single-season record in Presbyterian’s Division I era (2007 onwards).

ALEX HERRIOTT | Sr. | LB | Hanahan, S.C.

Phil Steele All-PFL 2nd Team

Herriott carved a reputation that will be remembered by Blue Hose faithful for years to come, concluding his extraordinary PC career with 368 total tackles, 30 stops behind the line of scrimmage, and 11 sacks.

Never missing a game in his entire college tenure, Herriott becomes the first Presbyterian player in the D-I era to lead the team in tackling for four consecutive seasons. He gathered 96 tackles as a senior after 118 the year prior, gaining 41 stops over his final five appearances.

The South Carolina native plucked his first career interception in the ’24 opener against Mercer, gulping at least one TFL in six affairs during his last ride.

CARTER SZYDLOWSKI | Jr. | DL | Mount Pleasant, Tenn.

Phil Steele All-PFL 2nd Team

Vacuuming in a host of accolades following the Butler downfall, Szydlowski was named the PFL Defensive Player of the Week to end the season after penning a personal-high nine tackles and pouncing on a 4th-quarter fumble.

The Tennesseean paced Presby’s lineup with 9.5 tackles for a loss in his second season under Englehart, leading opposing offenses to go backward 64 yards.

Carter pressured quarterbacks six times on the year, congregating 38 tackles and six sacks. PC’s adversaries averaged just 114 rushing yards per game, ranking 17th at the FCS level for the Blue Hose D.

CINCERE GILL | Sr. | WR | Foxboro, Mass.

Phil Steele All-PFL 3rd Team

As the ’24 journey wore on, Gill joined Kibby as deep-play weapons while putting together his best season in a PC jersey (36 receptions, 573 yards, and five touchdowns).

He landed in the end zone three times throughout the first four games of the season, later offering a career-best performance in a blowout over Marist by zooming to 161 yards on only four targets.

Gill caught a season-high eight passes versus PFL champion Drake, the hero on one of PC’s biggest plays of the season during the Butler upset: a 3rd-quarter 4th-and-9 conversion to set up the Blue Hose for the tiebreaking TD.

MALEK HORLBACK | Jr. | LB | Summerville, S.C.

Phil Steele All-PFL 4th Team

Improving with each season as a menace to PFL ball-carriers, Horlback tied team-high honors with six sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss overall. His 10 QB hurries were the most on the squad, breaking up two passes as an edge rusher and also forcing two fumbles.

Malek was a thorn in Morehead State’s side back in October, lining up two sacks and three TFL’s while causing the ball to pop free in the second half. Five of his sacks came in the season’s last seven matchups.

He dislodged another fumble in a three-touchdown W over Dayton, now giving him 21.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage in just three years at PC.
