Clinton Middle 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

On May 29th, 2024 at 10 am, Clinton Middle School teachers, students and guardians packed the CMS “NEW” gymnasium for the Class of 2028 Award Ceremony. This yearly event serves as awards and as the 8th Grade promotion ceremony. CMS Administration honored students with certificates for their achievements in testing, attendance, athletics, citizenship and more. 

The Clinton Chronicle would like to wish these students the absolute best as they take these first steps into a bigger future. Below is a list of all the awards given out at today's ceremony. Check back later for more information on the Class of 2028.

Honor Roll Recipients

Students earning the distinction of the Principal's Honor Roll have maintained an "A" average In all of their classes for the 2023·2024 school year.

Students earning the distinction of the A/B Honor Roll have maintained an average of an A or B in all of their classes for the 2023-2024 school year.

MAP Awards 

Clinton Middle School students take MAP three times during the school year. These awards recognize the top students with respect to growth and performance In both Reading and Math. Students are also recognized for scoring at the level of “Exceeds” according to the state of South Carolina.

Citizenship Awards 

The students selected by the administration and staff of Clinton Middle School have demonstrated extraordinary and oftentimes uncommon commitment to their school community, and peers.

Hard Hat Awards

Each 8th grade teacher selected a Hard Hat Award Winner to reward an exceptional work ethic and commitment to success demonstrated by a student in thelr class.

Perfect Attendance

Students who have had perfect attendance for the 2023 - 2024 School Year

Academic Achievement Awards 

These students have demonstrated incredible dedication and Improvement in their academics.

South Carolina Junior Scholars

Students who have earned the distinction of a South Carolina Junior Scholar received a qualifying score from PSAT testing.

Athletes of the Year 

The Male and Female Athletes of the Year have excelled on the fields and courts in Laurens District 56.

Fine Arts Award

The student nominated by the Fine Arts department at Clinton Middle School demonstrated great commitment and ability in their fine arts classes.

Student of the Year 

The Student of the Year Is chosen by the f acuity and staff of Clinton Middle School with a particular focus on his or her character, work ethic, academic prowess, and commitment to personal growth.

Promotion of Students 

To be promoted to 9th grade, students must meet the academic and behavioral expectations set forth at the beginning of the school year.
