This battle of the Carolinas has heated up. As families and retirees find themselves priced out of their hometowns, South Carolina's combination of natural splendor and economic accessibility has propelled it to new heights.

Using our own ConsumerAffairs data, our new report highlights South Carolina as the No.2 state people are moving to. Our 2024 Migration Trends report uncovers the states luring the newest residents—and the ones people are fleeing.

Methodology: We surveyed 143,506 ConsumerAffairs users interested in moving between January 2023 and March 2024 to learn where they were moving to and from. Our data covered migration patterns that the U.S. census has yet to release.
