Clinton Boys' Basketball was one win away from playing for the Class AAA Upper State Championship, but falls short. •Travelers Rest 51 – Clinton 46 … The Red Devil boys’ basketball team hosted the Devildogs  of Travelers Rest last night in third-round action of the SCHSL Class AAA playoffs in front of a packed gym… Unfortunately, I have to report that the Devildogs took a51-46 win over the Red Devils to end their season in one whale of a game that could have gone either way… The Red Devils led 15-12 after one quarter of play but the Devildogs came back to take a 26-22 lead going into the locker rooms at the half as the Red Devils had trouble getting shots to fall in the second quarter… The Red Devil came out in the third quarter and outscored the Devildogs 12-8 to tie the game at 34-34 at the end of the third quarter… The game was tied 40-40 with 3:11 left to play when the Devildogs got the go-ahead bucket and never trailed after that… The Red Devils fought to the buzzer and did cut the lead to just 2 points (48-46) with 22.8 seconds left in the game but just could not get the shots to fall as Travelers Rest got a couple of critical free-throws and offensive rebounds to keep the Red Devils off the scoreboard…Afterwards Coach Eddie Romines commented “Tough loss tonight but we competed and in the fourth quarter we had a chance to win it. However, it didn’t work out for us… I’m proud of what we accomplished this season! I wasn’t to thank all the Clinton community for coming out and supporting us all season, especially during our playoff run!”… The Devildogs were led in scoring by Drew McGibben who finished with a game-high 22 points scoring 10 of them in the fourth quarter and Caleb Mills who finished with 15 points… The Red Devils were led by Tushawn Richardson’s 14 points and Wil Stewart was also in double-digits with 12 points … Other players scoring for the Red Devils included Quay Rant who scored 9 points, Kaden Crawford 6, Devin Swindler 3 and Taliek Fuller 2 … The Red Devils finish the season 18-6 overall and went 7-1 in region play to win the region… Congratulations to Coach Romines and the team on a great season! - WLBG, Mike Hughes Sports Report Local Notes Clinton HS Clinton 79 – Broome 51… The Red Devil boys’ varsity …
