Mountains to the Sea bicyclists lunch at the Citgo in Cross Hill

Posted

The lunch break today (July 14) for Mountains to the Sea bicyclists united in the fight against Alzheimer's disease was at the Citgo in Cross Hill, west of Clinton. From there, the route was to Newberry for the day one sleepover, then to Orangeburg for the day two sleepover, then to Mt. Pleasant's Patriots Point near Charleston.

They are going to have a grueling hill to climb on the bridge over the Cooper River, then pray their brakes hold out on the subsequent downhill into the City of Mt. Pleasant, as Clinton City Council Member Gary Kuykendall, an avid cyclist told The Laurens Advertiser in an article for last week's edition.

Many riders have "who I'm ride for" bibs attached to their backs as they make the across-SC trek.

Here is a quick look at this remarkable event:

JOIN US FOR A CYCLING WEEKEND LIKE NO OTHER!

For 14 years, Ride to End ALZ South Carolina (formerly A Ride to Remember) has established itself as the best-supported, most impactful summer cycling weekend of the year. Cyclists take a three-day, scenic ride across South Carolina, all to raise funds and awareness for the research, care and support efforts of the Alzheimer's Association®.

Along the 255-mile route, we take care of all of the details. All meals are provided, along with luggage transportation and discounted rates on nightly lodging. Rest Stops staffed by our amazing volunteers offer hydration and snacks every 10-15 miles along each day’s route. And, when you’ve crossed the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston and finished your remarkable three-day journey, we celebrate in a big way at the finish line and at a dinner in the Charleston area.

We invite you to take part in this first-class event. You will join a passionate cycling community united in the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
