Clinton Little Devils tackle football & cheerleading offers instruction and competition

Posted

The Clinton Little Devils (CLD) 6U, 8U, 10U and 12U youth football teams and cheerleaders ascended on Clinton Middle School with teams from across South Carolina as hundreds visited our city on Saturday.

6U Team – Head Coach BJ Coleman. The 6U team representing the Clinton Little Devils performed well this past Saturday kicking off the start of the 2023 season.  I was very proud of all my players for showing tremendous heart and passion on the field.  The 6U game was highlighted by numerous backfield tackles by Kivarion Toland, a touchdown saving tackle by Noah Sanders and a 35-yard touchdown run by Tristan Richey. We look forward to continuing to get better each week and we look forward to a great season this year for the 6U Clinton Little Devils.  Game ended in a tie, 6-6.

CLD President – Annette Lee. If you have a 5- or 6-year-old who would like to play tackle football, let me tell you about the 6U Coach.  A quiet, giant - Billy Coleman -  brought his son to a meeting we were having with the young boys who started with us.  He stepped in and started working with the kids.  We know 5- and 6-year-olds typically have a short attention span and tend to be easily distracted.  Coach BJ has such patience when working with his players.  The players and parents love him and are impressed at how he has instilled discipline in the boys to stay focused during practice.  He takes the time to teach them well. He demonstrates and uses repetition to get them to execute the plays.  We invite you to bring your son to practice and let him join the practice and see if he wants to join the team.  6U practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 5:30 – 7:00 at the field beside MS Bailey Child Development Center.

8U Team – Head Coach Tyron Davis. The 8U took their spot of the field a 12:00 to face the Rock Hill Stars. Captains for the game 3rd year returning Kaiden Evans, 4th year returning Jaiden (Cash) Choice and 2nd year returning James Hill.  The Little Devils received the ball first.  We were able to move the ball, but ultimately, we were forced to punt and on the second play, the Rock Hill Stars scored.  The Little Devils fought well on both offense and defense but came up short losing the jamboree 20-0. The young quarterback Mykaiden Lemon threw some good passes.  The coaching staff was excited to see our guys getting some live action. For this first game, we were very short handed as a team unit with only 13players, but we’ll go back to the practice field on Monday to regroup and get ready for our season opening game against the Upstate Titans from Greenville, SC on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

We are asking the Clinton community to come out and support our youth football teams.  8U team is coached by Head Coach Tyron Davis, Assistant Coach Chris Davis and Assistant Coach Zach Tobias.

The league deadline for adding new players is September 5, 2023.  If you have a child 5-12 years old who may be interested in playing, please contact Coach Davis at 864-872-1784.
