Dog suspect escapes

Police, Animal Control set out trap in Centennial/Rook area

Posted
On Monday, February 23, 2024, (sic date is either Friday, Feb. 23, or Monday, Feb. 26) the Clinton Police Department received new information from the community about an injured black dog in the area of West Centennial and Rook Street. Upon arriving at the location, the officers observed a black injured dog that immediately ran away at the sight of the officers. It is possible that this could be one of the two animals that had previously escaped and survived after being injured by law enforcement. Unfortunately, the dog was not captured and managed to escape the area. In response to the situation, CPD and Laurens County Animal Control officers have increased patrols in the area and set out an animal control trap in an effort to locate and capture the animal. The community is encouraged to call 911, Clinton Police Department at 833-7512 or Crime Stoppers at 68CRIME (682-7463) and report any animals that are at large. The investigation into the ownership of the animals is still ongoing.
