City of Clinton's budget is up for final reading - figures are in minutes that have not yet been posted to website

Council will meet Monday, June 12, instead of its normal first Monday date

Posted

When Clinton City Council meets this Monday, it will approve miniutes from Budget Meetings of April 24 and 27, the Council Meeting of May 1, and the Council Meeting Workshop of May 15. Then, it will consider next year's City Budget for final reading.

Budget figures for the coming year have been presented to council during those meetings. But minutes are not posted on the city website until they receive council approval. The meeting this Monday, June 12, is in place of the council's normal 1st Monday of the month meeting, May 5. The meeting will be at 6 pm in the PS Bailey City Council Chambers of the MS Bailey Municipal Center, 211 North Broad Street.

The meeting is open to the public; meetings are live-streamed on the city's Facebook page.

This Monday, agenda item 11 is the required Public Hearing on the FY 2023-24 Budget, and agenda item 13 is the second and final reading of the budget. In between, council will receive its most recent audit.

Citizens can make comments about the budget during the public hearing. Citizens can make comments about anything listed on the agenda as agenda item 4 - 2 minutes for each presentation.

Council will consider changing its next workshop from June 19 to June 26. Council will hear presentations from Police Chief Sonny Ledda, from County Library Director Renita Barksdale about the new library, and from Community Relations Specialist Lacresha Dowdy and Habitat for Humanity and Lush Acres Farm. Council will give final reading to a rezoning ordinance for the new School District 56 office on Old Colony Road, and will consider amendments to the public tree maintenance and city forester's duties and enforcement.

Reports and recommendations complete the agenda.
