In Case You Missed It ... Last Friday afternoon, a driver on Hwy 76 / East Carolina Drive in Clinton - beside the railroad tracks that separate Tapestry and Cooper Motor Company -- clipped a power pole, causing his vehicle to overturn. The driver apparently crawled out of the wreck, and after talking to EMS/Prisma ambulance and the Clinton Police, left in another vehicle. Meanwhile, the response and clean-up forces swooped in, in response to a widespread power outage in the middle of Clinton. With apologies in case we miss anyone, the Clinton Police, Fire and Public Works Department managed the wreck and a traffic detour, put out the grass fire which could have been much worse considering the dry conditions, and restrung the electrical wire. A wrecker service took away the damaged vehicle and cleaned the roadway. Medical personnel checked out the driver, and a CSX truck arrived for a technician to take photos of the wreck scene and the railway. The City’s Facebook page provided public information. This is what they train for - and seeing them work, each in their own way but as a response team, truly was inspiring. So often, we take for granted our Hometown Heroes - until it’s plus 90 degrees and the power goes out!!
