In acknowledgement of the day-to-day work, and the savings realized from a safe year in the workplace, the Laurens County Employees were treated June 28 to a cookout at The County Park. County officials manned the grills and serving tables, and there were bouncys for the kids, live music, ice cream and lots of fellowship. Plates were taken to some of the county employees whose offices could not be closed, and those who could not leave their posts - and in some cases, the personnel came in shifts. The Council authorized a noon closing for those offices that could be closed early. It was a first-ever, appreciation event for the Laurens County government, and just a small way of saying "thank you" to The Laurens County Workforce. - Photos by Vic MacDonald
