Investigation Offender: Tevin O’Neil Brown -- On May 6, 2025, officers from the Laurens Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Sullivan Street and Bub Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an individual in a small field with agunshot wound to the abdomen. Patrol officers immediately rendered aid, and the victim was transported shortly thereafter via Life Flight helicopter.
An extensive investigation conducted by the Laurens Police Department’s Detective Bureau, with the assistance of patrol officers, led to the identification of the suspect as Tevin “Stank” O’Neil Brown.
Brown has a prior criminal history involving weapons and violent crimes. In 2020, he was charged with two counts of Attempted Murder in connection to a previous shooting involving two victims. He ultimately pleaded guilty in 2022 to reduced charges of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and was sentenced to five years in state prison. Brown, who was recently released from the South Carolina Department of Corrections, was arrested again on May 14, 2025, in connection with the Sullivan Street shooting.
Tevin Brown is currently charged with the following:
•Attempted Murder
•Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
•Possession of a Weapon by a Person Convicted of Certain Crimes
•Breach of Peace, Aggravated in Nature
He is currently being held at the Johnson Detention Center with bond denied.
