On December 12-13, the festive spirit was in full swing as Kathy Swayngham and her husband, dressed as Mrs. and Mr. Claus to spread joy to kids of all ages at their "Visit with Santa" event. The event, held at 413 N Broad Street in Clinton, SC, drew in approximately 70 kids and 30 families, who gathered from 6pm-7:30pm to share in the holiday magic.
The event's success was made possible by the generosity of the community, with numerous donations pouring in to make the evening special. Mrs. Swayngham expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, "We had a lot of donations to make this possible. Wrapping paper for our gifts, puzzles, girls' sets of makeup, coloring books... someone even donated napkins for us to put our cookies on!"
The kids were treated to a treasure trove of goodies, including toys, treats, ornaments, and more. To keep the chill off, attendees were also treated to steaming cups of free hot chocolate, perfect for warming hands and hearts. The event was a joyous success, with cars lining up down the street as families eagerly waited to meet Santa and share their holiday wishes.
During their visit with Santa, attendees were invited to enter their names into a hat drawing, featuring an array of delightful prizes. Lucky winners took home a scrumptious dessert set, a cuddly teddy bear, a cozy blanket, and a festive tumbler. The name drawing added an extra layer of joy to the evening, leaving everyone beaming with delight.
The spirit of giving will continue, as Mrs. Swayngham sets up a table of free items for the community, featuring non-perishable food, toys, clothes, and other leftover donations.
The "Visit with Santa" event was a shining example of the power of community and the joy of giving during the holiday season. As the holiday spirit continues to spread throughout Clinton, SC, one thing is clear: the true meaning of Christmas – kindness, generosity, and love – is alive and well in this charming community.
