Love blooms at the Bub Lollis

Posted

Two motorcycle kids have a springtime embrace at the April 3 Bub Lollis Whitten Center Run in uptown Clinton. The Sunday event had bikers gathering at noon for food, fellowship and music (Ricky Arnold and the Radio Band) along with residents and staff of Whiten Center, a facility for developmentally disabled persons on Hwy 76 near Clinton. A group also came from Greenwood. Bub Lollis was a long-time supporter of Whitten Center, whose legacy has been carried on by his family in spring and fall runs to benefit the residents. The events are held in conjunction with the Whitten Center Parents' Club. Participants brought personal hygiene items for donation to the residents, and gave monetary donations to Whitten Center Volunteer Services for programs that help the residents live well-rounded lives. Bikers left The Depot at 2 pm for the short drive to Whitten Center and a ride-through there for the residents, staff, parents and families, and volunteers.
